Community Investment Grants
Community Investment is the allocation process for United Way’s traditional grants focusing on the building blocks for a good life—basic needs, education and health. Community volunteers review applications, conduct site visits, listen to presentation and make funding recommendations. All funding recommendations are reviewed and approved by United Way’s Board of Directors. 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations and other programs that can contribute to achieving outcomes in our goal areas are welcomed to apply for funding awards:
Education Goal
- To promote and support a whole-learner approach in education and youth development by addressing gaps of opportunity in our communities.
Basic Needs Goal
- Ensuring the basic needs of all in our community are met (including food, housing, transportation, safety, financial stability, and equitable access to resources)
Health Goal
- Promoting healthy behaviors and access to equitable, quality care to support multifaceted wellbeing (including medical care, mental health, dental care, nutritious eating, physical activity, sexual health, chemical health, environmental health, avoidance of risky behavior, chronic disease management, and prenatal care)
Strategic Funding
United Way’s Strategic Funding was established to make an impact on the most pressing issue in our community identified through data review, conversations with stakeholders and polling community members. It was overwhelmingly clear that housing, and more specifically homelessness, was our service area’s most pressing need. United Way of GWP has committed two years of Strategic Funding to make a positive impact in this area.
NOTE: United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties DOES NOT provide direct financial support to individuals. If you are in need of direct financial assistance, please contact 2-1-1.
